Mission Statement
The Department of Surgery's mission is to provide state of the art surgical care
within the guidelines of established priority (active duty, Tricare prime,
Tricare senior prime, space available) to all patients considered to have
diseases requiring surgical intervention. The Department of Surgery includes the
Cardiothoracic Surgery Service, General Surgery Service, Neurosurgery Service,
Ophthalmology Service, Orthopedic Surgery Service, Podiatry Surgery Service,
Otolaryngology Surgery Service, Audiology and Speech Pathology Sections, Plastic
Surgery Service, Urology Surgery Service and Vascular Surgery Service. The scope
of surgical intervention is defined by each of the individual services and
changes are reflected in the individual service historical reports. In addition,
emergency cases and trauma cases are evaluated for the need of surgical
treatment or operative intervention.
A second major mission of the Department of
Surgery is to oversee residency training programs in General Surgery,
Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngolgoy, Podiatry and Urology. The Department
of Surgery is committed to careful evaluation of all care rendered and active
participation in hospital initiatives to improve the process of health care
delivery and the quality of health care. |
