Introduction

Welcome to the Madigan Army Medical Center’s Department of Radiology web site.  The Department of Radiology performs over 170,000 procedures annually and is responsible for providing quality and responsive radiology service support to over 400,000 beneficiaries in the Puget Sound Multi-Service Market region.  Please feel free to browse through our Department web page.  It is our hope that you will find it an educational and informational experience enabling you to better understand the intricacies of radiology services today at Madigan Army Medical Center .

Mission Statement

The Department of Radiology’s mission is to provide quality state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic radiology services and support that is patient focused, cost effective, and meets guidelines of established patient priority (Active duty personnel, TRICARE PRIME patients, TRICARE PLUS PATIENTS, and Space Available patients. The Department of Radiology provides services for every category of patients as inpatients, outpatients, emergency trauma patients, newborn to geriatric, and covers a wide range of services including: Angiography Interventional services, Mammography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT), Ultrasound (US), Radiation Therapy, Nuclear Medicine, Bone Density, Special Procedures, and Diagnostic Radiography. Our radiologists are board certified by the American Board of Radiology with subspecialty training or fellowship training in interventional radiology, pediatric radiology, neuroradiology, musculoskeletal imaging, nuclear medicine, and radiation oncology. The department is filmless utilizing a Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS) with voice recognition software.

A second major mission of the Department of Radiology is to oversee the four year military radiology residency program and to provide clinical training for: the military Phase II training program for x-ray technologists and military Nuclear Medicine technologists, the x-ray students from the PIMA Institute, Seattle, WA, and the ultrasound technologists from Bellevue Community College. The Department of Radiology is committed to careful oversight of all care and procedures performed in the Department.
