Scientific Research Mandatory Fellowship: Residents complete a full year of research between the PGY-2 and the PGY-3 years.  Currently, the service serves as a primary consultant for the MAMC molecular lab located in the Department of Clinical Investigation.  The residents are integrated into the lab and collaborate with our team which includes three PhDs, a senior scientist, a veterinarian and three vet techs, four molecular technicians and an administrator with statistical support.  The research year affords the opportunity to perform bench research in addition to work on clinical studies.  Equipment and techniques available in the laboratory include PCR, epifluorescent microscopes, a laser tissue microdissector, confocal microscope, cryotome, and flow cytometer.
