Clinical Clerkship Rotations

Clinical Clerkships available are listed below:

Medical Student Information

Clerkships are available only to students enrolled in medical schools accredited by the Liaison Committee for Medical Education (LCME) and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). Army sponsored Health Professional Scholarship Participants (HPSP) and Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) students have priority for all rotations. HPSP students must apply for Active Duty Orders through the Student Management Office located at:  HQDA, OTSG, ATTN:  DASG-ZHM-H, 5109 Leesburg Pike, Skyline Six, Room 691, Falls Church, VA   22041-3258.

For HPSP students who will not be on active duty for training orders (ADT) during the rotation, the following must be accomplished:

  • A Memorandum of Affiliation (MOA) must be in place between Madigan and the student’s medical school (takes approximately two months to complete).

  • A letter from your Dean of Student Affairs, stating that you are in good standing, must be mailed to the Graduate Medical Education (GME) Office, Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, Washington 98431

Most clerkships are for a period of 6 weeks. Every effort is made to place the clerk in the area desired. Some rotations require “prior approvals.” Approval must be obtained from the preceptor for that rotation prior to contacting the Madigan GME office.

All clerkship rotations at Madigan must be coordinated with the Student Coordinator, Graduate Medical Education Office, phone (253) 968-1511 or DSN: 782-1511 or 1-800-544-3298, extension 2. Collect calls are not accepted. The address for the Madigan GME Office is:
