Madigan offers an exceptional Occupational and Environmental Medicine residency program. The program is two years in length. Although primarily clinical, it offers research, public health, medical leadership and federal and state regulatory and industrial options. A Masters in Public Health (MPH) is completed at the University of Washington. Research rotations may be performed inside or outside the continental U.S.

The goal of an Army Occupational Medicine physician is to preserve the health of the worker and the Soldier. We preserve the working and fighting strength.

There will be many and significant changes in the way we practice medicine over this and the next few years. These changes will increase the role of and the need for Occupational Medicine physicians. Clinicians who understand the world of federal regulatory requirements, impairment, disability, and fitness for duty are at a premium inside and outside the Army.

Occupational Medicine and Preventive Medicine physicians have the best “work-life” balance and lowest burnout ratings among physicians of all specialties.

Graduates of the Madigan Occupational Medicine Residency program has a 100% first time board pass rate.
