About

The JBLM Center for Autism Resources, Education and Services (CARES) is a joint installation partnership between Madigan Army Medical Center and the JBLM Armed Forces Community Service which focuses on providing patient-centered care for military children with autism and their families. JBLM CARES will offer occupational, physical and speech therapy, ABA, Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) Systems Navigation, CYSS Respite Care and more. While the priority mission of JBLM CARES is to provide transitional autism support treatment and services for patients who are on waitlists at off-base community providers, pediatric patients with other special needs may be eligible for certain services provided at CARES.

Who Can Be Seen at the CARES

Children enrolled in TRICARE Prime and seen at a Madigan primary care clinic must receive a referral from his or her primary care manager if it has been determined that autism-related services are required. Children and families seeking only community resources do not need a referral to be seen by the Armed Forces Community Service representatives at the CARES. Families PCSing in to JBLM with an already-diagnosed autistic child will NOT need to receive a referral from his or her Madigan primary care manager. Your child’s PCM will contact your previous provider at the losing installation to get the most current information, diagnoses and established treatment plans.
