About

Madigan’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is an 18-bed critical care area that provides comprehensive care to critically ill adult surgical, medical and trauma patients. The unit consists of 18 individual rooms that have the capability to care for patients requiring advanced medical/surgical care, negative pressure, dialysis, obstetrical monitoring or anyone at high risk for life-threatening health problems. The ICU also provides after-hours coverage of Cardiac Catheterization Lab (CCL), Interventional Radiology (IR), and Post-Anesthesia Care.

Critical care nurses have training in taking care of patients who are chronically ill, at risk for deadly illnesses or trauma. The ICU ensures all patients receive optimal care using advanced skills and advanced monitoring. The ICU has Registered Nurses that have attained national certification (CCRN – critical care registered nurse) from the national American Association of Critical Care Nurses. Our staff of physicians and nurses is committed to providing all patients with safe, quality, and competent care.
