What are the requirements to get non-military friends or family on base?

Will I have lab work drawn at this appointment?

The type of testing done in Surgical Services Center is dependent upon the type of surgery you will undergo, and also your unique medical history. These lab tests will be ordered before your visit to Surgical Services by the Surgeon and may either be drawn at the time of your appointment or at another appointment closer to your date of surgery. Most female patients will require a pregnancy test before anesthesia.

Can I bring my service animal to this appointment and also on the DOS?

Service dogs may accompany their owners to most areas in the hospital and clinics except for restricted areas. The Pre-Op Holding area, Operating Room, and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) are all considered restricted areas. Please refer to Madigan’s Service Dog Policy for more information.

When will I receive my report time for Surgery?

Report times for surgery are available between 1400 (2:00pm) and 1600 (4:00pm) the business day before your scheduled surgery date. Please call the Surgical Services Center at (253) 968-3015 Option #2, to receive your report time. Our Surgery schedule is finalized the day before, so if you have received a report time before the 24 hour mark, please be sure to call and verify your report time is still correct. We make every effort to follow the surgery schedule, but sometimes emergencies happen. Please note that surgery is an all-day event and we may need to alter surgery times to accommodate these emergent cases and situations. Thank you for your understanding and consideration regarding these un-expected occurrences.

Where do I report on the morning of surgery?

All scheduled surgeries should report to the Day of Surgery Check-in Desk, located on the 2nd floor of the Hospital Tower. When you receive your report time the business day before your procedure, the administrative staff will remind you where you check in the next day. If you have any questions about when and where you should report the morning of surgery please call (253) 968-3015, Option #2, during normal business hours.

We understand that situations may occur requiring you to cancel your surgery. It is very important for you to contact your provider and the Surgical Services Center immediately if you wish to cancel. When a surgery is cancelled it affects the entire surgery schedule, not just you, and may require other patients to adjust their schedule. Please let us know as soon as possible to ensure minimized wait times for all patients at Madigan.
