WTB welcomes new commander

After leading the Warrior Transition Battalion for two years, Lt. Col. Jason Wing relinquished command to Lt. Col. Jeffery Mosso April 19. The transition was finalized with the pomp and circumstance of a very wet change of command ceremony held at Watkins Field.

Until receiving the colors from Wing, Mosso was chief of future operations with the Western Regional Medical Command. He has served other Joint Base Lewis-McChord units in the past and he will be receiving support at home from his wife, Katie, and their three children: Tyler, Kody and Kylee.

Voc rehab builds career foundations

The bona fide Soldier mentor

For four months in Iraq, Sgt. 1st Class Kenneth Newman carved out the time to take on the additional roles of coach, mentor and cheerleader to dole out the motivation and tough love needed to push one of his Soldiers past what he had thought possible.

Medevac team tells Soldiers: 'I've got you'

Even before the wheels of the medevac flight hit the tarmac, the patients onboard the C-17 had a slew of people lined up to support them on the ground here, ensuring their medical needs were met, their bags handled, and that they were met immediately by someone who would take care of them.
