As part of National POW/MIA Recognition Day, Madigan held a somber POW/MIA Ceremony Sept. 21. Madigan's Sergeant Audie Murphy Club hosted the event. The ceremony honored the service and sacrifices of POWs and to help never forget those missing in action. Master Sergeant Andrew Wolfe spoke of his POW/MIA memorial bracelet he has proudly worn for many years. By chance he recently learned that the Soldier he was charged to remember, Sergeant First Class Donald M. Shue was recently returned from Vietnam and buried near his home. "I wore that bracelet all these years to never forget and now I can say, welcome home brother," said an emotional Wolfe. As part of the ceremony, Mr. Glenn Lampman, President of AFGE, Local 1502 presented a wreath to Madigan commander, Colonel Dallas Homas who remarked, "today’s ceremony is a moving tribute and our opportunity here at Madigan to remember America's heroes." This year's Remembrance Day theme was, "until they are home."
