Purchase of Print Materials by MAMC Departments

The Medical Librarian (or her designee) must approve the purchase of print materials. Items that cost $100.00 or more (AR 735-17) will be made accountable by Medical Library staff. The approval signature is obtained before the purchase and after the credit card holder and approving official sign. A properly completed IMPAC purchasing requisition MAMC form 1691-ACQ or DA 3953 can be brought to the Medical Library Monday-Friday 0930-1630 for the required signature.

Accountable items are books that cost $100.00 or more each. The books must be brought to the medical library for processing after they are received. They will be returned to the purchasing department through a book hand receipt.

Non-accountable items are books that cost less than $100.00 per item OR are unbound periodicals, loose-leaf services, pamphlets, classroom texts, dictionaries or bibles.

Each request (a completed IMPAC purchasing requisition, MAMC form 1691-ACQ) must have a complete description of the book (title, copyright date, ISBN, edition), name of source, address, telephone number, price, shipping and handling charges. Attach a photocopy of the page from the catalog or the brochure, if possible. Please be sure the book is in stock and can be shipped immediately by the vendor.
